The Doctor is Free Bird

So Haley told me her thoughts on Journey's End, (slightly wanky) and I know she won't post them, so I'm going to talk about them, because dammit they just make sense.

• Regarding Rose's ending. Rusty said, "Okay guys, I'm going to try to give her a happy ending. A happy ending that makes sense in this universe, which I did not create, and must continue after I leave. I am not Whedon, so I'll try to be nice about this. Rose loves the Doctor, and since I can't keep Billie here, Rose can't travel with the Doctor forever. The Doctor cannot settle down and have babies with Rose, he wouldn't want to. Handy is a mix of the man Rose first met, Donna, and Ten. They can get to know each other and see if it will work. He's also human, so there's more chance that he might want to settle down with Rose. Does that work for you guys?" Apparently not.
• Now this bit is paraphrased Haley thoughts, cracky and awesome: "The Doctor has places to go. He doesn't have time to make sure that everybody gets their happy ending. He can't go off and have babies with Rose. He can't let Handy go around the universe in a TARDIS fucking things up with his Time Lord intelligence and his human-ness, which he inevitably would. He can't be babysitting Donna and making sure that her head doesn't explode. He can't follow Jack, Martha and Mickey and make sure they live happy lives. He has shit to do. He must be traveling on now. Lord knows he can't change. He is a Free Bird."
• Also, this is just me talking and playing devil's advocate, people are complaining about Ten being such a stupid asshole regarding Donna in Journey's End. Am I the only one not surprised at that? He has always been an asshole and always will be an asshole. That is Ten. He's funny, smart and can be very awesome, but he is a dick. I understand why a lot of people stopped liking him, but I am hoping no one was actually surprised at his behavior.
