It's a shame that Life On Mars US was cancelled. It was a good show. If you haven't seen it yet, because you are against US remakes or you just haven't had a chance, you should really give it a try. It's good. I didn't consistently watch it, but I'm going to try to catch up. I was super skeptical because I didn't want a terrible remake of my beloved LoM, but it was surprisngly good. It came into its own really early and it has its own style and world. I love the original Sam Tyler. For a lot of people the show is all about Gene, but for me, it's all about Sam, and I like the US Sam a lot too. He's a big dork and he's a sci fi fanboy, and he's adorable.

Also, Dennis Duffy is Sam's dad. C'mon, how hilariously awesome is that?

Wait. Wait. I'm watching the finale right now and I just got to the end. wait. wait wait. wtf wtf wtf?!

WTF?!

Wow, okay, the ending is COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DIFFERENT FROM THE UK VERSION. wtf.
[Error: unknown template qotd]Firefly, Angel, Life On Mars (UK, of course. US version hasn't gotten canceled yet, here's hoping it makes it for a few seasons), and Strangers With Candy. I've accepted that they're done, and I don't expect them to come back, but I still miss them. I just really want John Simm to make an appearance or two on Ashes to Ashes. EDIT: Oh! I forgot about Arrested Development! Dur! I miss that and I'm not completely over it.

I went to the Organ Loft tonight and saw Nosferatu. It was pretty cool. As you can guess from the name, there's a giant organ in the building that is played during silent movies. Nosferatu was kind of boring, but most of it held my attention so I wasn't too crazy bored. The movie was actually pretty funny, and the live organ was awesome. I went with Flora, one of Flora's friends, and Staci and her boyfriend. We had a lot of fun driving around Salt Lake afterwards, they're fun people. I am so glad I went out tonight. I felt like doing something today but I didn't think it was going to happen, but then Flora called and good times were had. :D

The Exorcist is playing at the Tower tomorrow!!!!! I haven't seen it yet, so what better way to see it than in a theater with a crazy awesome sound system! :D

I'm watching Life On Mars US, and it's not that bad. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I just wish I were watching John Simm.

I saw the US Life On Mars trailer, and that was just wrong wasn't it? I wasn't too worried about the remake, because I figured if they used the premise in a new way, a good series could be made, but wow, that was painful. The guy who plays Sam is really wooden, and hearing him say John Simm's lines was weirdly unsettling. I usually like the guy who is playing Gene in this version, but I don't think he really works as Gene. I don't like that they're using the same/very similar script, but I expected it. Most remakes use the same script for the pilot. So, I'm not going to watch the first episode, but I'll probably watch the second episode if it's different from the original script. And if I can sit through that guy's acting.

Today I went over to my grandpa's house to set up his brand new computer. He got a HP desktop with 3.00 GB of RAM, a 280 GB hard drive and a DVD burner, that cost $1000 with the pretty LCD monitor. You know what he'll use it for? Email and reading the news. I guess when he bought the computer a salesman convinced him to buy that model, even though he couldn't really afford it and he didn't even need it. It pissed me off, but oh well, at least he has a good computer now. He had to get a new computer because he opened up an email he shouldn't have and got a virus that pretty much destroyed his computer. So today I set up a gmail account for him and I installed AVG, and he's learned his lesson about strange emails, so hopefully his new computer will last him longer. He's had a computer since I was little, but he's never really gotten a hang of it, I thought that maybe a Mac would be better for him, but I doubt that he would be able to get the hang of a whole new operating system when he's barely getting the hang of Windows after 10+ years.

You know what needs to happen? A Life On Mars/Quantum Leap crossover in which Sam leaps into Gene and in order to leap again he has to make Sam Tyler fall in love with him. Can you just imagine the comic possibilities? Like when Sam has to seduce Sam (there will definitely be some name confusion in the fic) and Al has to help him figure out how, so he just tells him to pretend he's a woman. This would inevitably lead to, as Haley said, "Night One: Candle lit dinner" And then after Sam leaps there will be a very confused Gene left with a very smitten Sam Tyler. XD Aw man, this is so awesome I might have to write it this summer.

EDIT: Haley just provided another idea for the fic. QuantumLeap!Sam would be really attentive and caring and nice to try to woo Sam, but it wouldn't work. So QL!Sam and Al would have to figure out another way for him to leap, so he leaps and then Sam only falls for Gene when Gene is himself. I think that is actually more realistic... but I don't know if realistic is a word I can use to describe a fic about a man who leaps into the mental construct of another man in a coma, so the man in a coma can realize that he likes the mental construct just the way he is. And now I have a headache.

EDIT2: OR! Sam would only fall in love with QL!Sam when QL!Sam loses his temper and starts shouting at him! Then QL!Sam could leap! And I should really just stop thinking about it!

I did my art assignment and read some articles today for the classes that I missed. I feel like utter shit, but hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow so I can do all the studying that I have to do without burning out quickly and taking a nap.

I don't really like my art assignment, but I'm hoping if I disclaim it by saying, "I was in a feverish delusional state when I drew this," my class will show some pity when critiquing it.

I made a LoM macro that I forgot to post a while ago. The text is from the Jurassic Park Rifftrax. :)

Well, that was fun.

Haley and I went to the grocery store today and I cleaned the apartment so I feel like I accomplished something today. Woo!

I'm planning on just making macros for the rest of the night. It will be most good. Most good. :D

I have been studying for my Italian quiz all night and I just hit my limit. God willing I'll remember everything I need to. I need to remember all the different commands and there is so much shit to memorize. I have to remember the imperative forms of irregulari verbi, regulari verbi, verbi riflessivi, -isco verbi and formale. I think I remember all of the rules, and I'm pretty sure I know what most of the verbs mean. Alzarsi? That totally means to get up. Mi alzo alle nove. Aw yeah, I know basic italian. That's right. I is the shit.

Next week I don't have to go to Italian class at all! We have Monday off and la mia professoressa has jury duty on Wednesday! This means I get to sleep in on lunedi e mercoledi! WOO!

I have this new found love for the song, "Rocket Man" I don't really understand why. I just got this incredible urge to listen to it, and I've been listening to it on repeat for the last 20 minutes or so. I think it's Life On Mars' fault. I think it was playing during one of the episodes that was on tonight. Oh Life On Mars. I heart that show so hard. I decided to start watching it with no intention of shipping anybody. And so far I've been successful, but tonight I almost slipped. I was watching the episode when Gene was framed for murder and that episode is incredibly slashy. I was just sitting there thinking, "Holy shit, Gene and Sam are so damn slashy. Damn you subtext!" Also, Sam was really cute when he was slightly drunk and flirty with Annie. I think if I ship anybody in this show it's Sam and Annie. So damn cute.
"I always say, there's a time to take off the noose and put on the kettle."

I love Life On Mars so hard! (Yes, I've switched from angsty introspection back to fandom squeeing. I get over things too fast.)
I just cleaned the bathroom and showered and now I feel a little less shitty. Woo!

I'm having a lot of fun with Gay!Cardboard!Angel. I went to bed after Haley and Jaime and I put Gay!Cardboard!Angel in front of their door. Evidently Haley was quite frightened when she got up to pee. xD When I'm not scaring Haley with it I'm getting scared by it. Whenever I see him in the corner of my eye I think some dude is just standing in our living room or in our kitchen (he moves around a bit). We need to put him in a corner like Cardboard!Spike. Cardboard!Spike only scares me sometimes, not fucking constantly. Last night Haley and I were talking about it and we think we're going to start moving both of them around. Like they could be plotting in the corner, or in separate corners ignoring each other, or they could be arguing about Cowboys and Astronauts... or we're actually crazy. That's a possibility too.

Well I set a personal goal for myself today and tomorrow. I'm going to watch all of Life On Mars. I've seen some of season 1 and some of season 2 and I just need to see all of it. I am also going to make [livejournal.com profile] alouette_sparra an Evans icon or two. :) So, I'm off!
