omg I am so exhausted. Today I went to Italian and History and I also went to a job fair at the Union building, ate lunch with my cousin, got a job application from the library, bought my Italian books at the book store, and walked home. It doesn't sound like much, but I cannot remember the last time I was this tired. I think it was because I'm getting over a cold, I got about 5 hours of sleep, and crashed from my caffeine buzz around 12:00. Oh, and I had to walk up a gazillion stairs over the course of the day.

Tonight I'm going to fill out some applications. I really hope I can find a good job soon.

Today was a very productive day if I do say so myself. I got up at 10:30, which is not even close to how early I have to get up on Monday, but it's progress. Then I went up to campus and bought most of the books I need and a new backback. New school stuff, yay! Then I sat around for awhile and read a bit of the Italian version of Watchmen that I have. I figured out why I didn't understand a lot of the first page the first time I tried reading it, I never learned the Italian words for 'filth,' 'whore' or 'stomach gash' last year.

Around six I hung out with Davies, and I remembered why I love hanging out with him. We saw the Dark Knight, but before and after the movie all we did was talk. What did we talk about? Our mutual hatred of Twilight, our love of Star Trek, Star Wars, Batman, Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Watchmen, The Beatles, Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, horror movies, Christian Bale, and Russell Crowe. I also recommended stuff for him to listen to and watch like Wilco, American Psycho, QI and Top Gear. And we talked about a bunch of other stuff that I can't quite remember. I love geeking out with him, and I love that when I pointed out that Bruce Wayne totally fell for Harvey Dent, he agreed.

I'm still on a geeking out squee-y high. :D

I decided to drop the pop culture class that I was going to take because I found a class about the history of the Olympics, and I can actually get a gen ed requirement filled with that class. Also, I'm guessing that the pop culture class would make me hate pop culture, since college classes tend to make you hate your casual hobbies. Or obsessions as it were.

I've also been looking at study abroad programs, and I found a summer program that I really really want to do. It's in London and it's a class about the renaissance and literature and architecture and OMG LONDON. Also, it's $3,500 which I don't think is that bad. It would be $4,800 but there's a subsidy for UofU students, so woo!

Oh, and I have a question in regards to whether or not I'm crazy.

In the Torino Olympics didn't the athletes walk into the stadium during the opening ceremony to the sounds of random 80s pop music? Haley and Jaime think I'm crazy, but I swear it happened.
I got a B+ in American Institutions, and I am pleased with this grade. So far this term I have a 3.58 GPA, and I just have to wait for my Gender and Social Change grade to be posted, and unless I totally bombed my final, I am going to get an A in that class, which means I'll maintain a GPA above 3.5 and I'll get to stay in the Honors College. I am very pleased. :D

So, the concert. The concert was in a movie theater, a large movie theater, but it was a movie theater so as concert venues go it was pretty small. We were in the balcony and we were in seats with absolutely no leg room, it sucked. But the view of the stage was fantastic and the acoustics in the venue were astounding. Retribution Gospel Choir opened, and I had never listened to them before, they were pretty good.

Wilco was incredible. They sounded so beautiful and it was just astounding. Nothing will beat the Arcade Fire concert I went to in amazingness, but this was a very close second. It was weird sitting down the whole time, I don't remember the last concert I went to where I wasn't standing the whole time and wasn't pretty close to the stage. They played all of my favorite songs in a row (Shot In The Arm, Via Chicago, California Stars), and the only songs that they didn't play that I wanted to hear were Radio Cure, Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway (Again), and Muzzle of Bees. But I wasn't disappointed because the concert was soooo fucking good. Also, they are going to be in Salt Lake on August 18th, so hopefully they'll play those songs then. :D

We parked behind the theater and we noticed the tour bus, so we decided that we'd wait and see if we could meet the band after the show. We decided to get out there before the encores so we wouldn't get caught in the crowd and we waited in the rain for 30 minutes. Then when the show was over the security guys said that the band wouldn't be signing stuff outside of the bus, but they would go to the after party across the street. So we went across the street and discovered that the after party was 21+, so I couldn't go in. We sat outside and talked for awhile and Jaime went back to the venue to see if they came out, and then ran back to us to tell us they were out of the tour bus talking to fans and signing stuff.

I literally ran back to the theater. When we got over there we met Glenn (the drummer) Mike (the piano player) and Jeff Tweedy (the awesome). We talked to Glenn for awhile and he is just so incredibly adorable, awesome and approachable. Haley and Jaime talked to him more than I did, but eventually he noticed me standing there smiling like a fool and he shook my hand. I mentioned that they played my favorite songs in a row and he was pleasantly surprised and said, "And then it all went down hill from there huh?" "OH no no no!" XD He's so cute and awesome.

I didn't really talk to Mike, I kind of just pushed my way towards him and asked if he would sign my ticket. It was kind of rude of me because he was talking to someone at the time, but I tend to be rude if I'm not thinking clearly, and I really wasn't at the time, so woops!

We got Jeff to sign our tickets and then we backed away so other people could get their stuff signed. Haley decided to go back up to him and she asked if she could shake his hand and he said sure. Then she told him how much the band means to her, and he said that was sweet of her, and she mentioned her WILCO license plate. Then he went into the photo pose with his arm around her shoulder and she said that we didn't have a camera, and then a guy said he'd take the picture and email it to her. So I got in the picture and the guy couldn't take the photo because flash on the camera wasn't working. So Haley and I had our arms around Jeff Tweedy for several seconds while the guy was getting the flash to work. :D Eventually he got the camera to work properly and hopefully he'll email the picture to Haley.

After that Haley and I thanked him and calmly walked a few feet away, and proceeded to squee like a couple of crazy fangirls. XD

Man, last night was just so kick ass. :D (I really need a Wilco icon)

Oh, I'm watching TCR right now and it reminded me of something, Tweedy wasn't wearing his wrist strong bracelet!

My final is done. I wrote 8 pages for my final essay, and I think I did a fantastic job. Holy crap I am so happy I'm done. And I am so tired. I'm going to let my brain just take a break for the rest of the day.

I got through my freshman year of college! Wahoo!

After studying constantly for the last two days, I have come to an important conclusion:

Studying is for losers and tools.

And now, I'm going to take a break and start packing since I'm going back to Kamas on Thursday and haven't packed a damn thing.

I had so much fun tonight. Tonight was the Italian potluck that my class put together and it was fantastic. It was at a house of one of my classmates, and she lives in a freaking mansion. I am not exaggerating. It was a huge house that was just incredibly gorgeous. I had a great time just hanging out with my professor and my classmates eating delicious food. My professor is so awesome, I wish she was teaching Italian 2010 next fall, I'm going to miss her. After the potluck was over, a few of us went to Amber's house and hung out for about an hour just talking. I had such a great time with them, I hope we can hang out this summer. :)

Oh, on the way to Amber's house I mentioned that I have three more years until I'm 21, and the girl who was driving said, "You're only 18?" "Yeah, how old did you think I was?" "I thought you were a junior or a senior." And later on I brought it up and the other girls thought I looked older too. It was pretty funny and rather surprising, I don't think I look older.

...

You know what? I think that last bit deserves the "Most Interesting Story of The Year" award. :P

I'll probably jinx myself by saying this, but I think I made that Italian final my bitch today. It wasn't incredibly easy, but I'm pretty sure I aced it. Woo! I was really nervous about the final because I thought that I just couldn't remember all the rules and tenses that I needed to remember, but luckily my brain has held on to the important things, and I'm pretty sure I remembered everything. :)

So, I'm officially done with classes. I just have one more final next Wednesday, and other than that I'm done. :D It doesn't feel like school is over though, after finishing late May/early June for my entire life it seems strange to be done in April. Awesome, but strange.

It is such a nice day today, and by nice I mean cloudy and raining. But the temperature is comfortable, the breeze is nice and cool and the birds are chirping. Also, it may be raining, but at least it's not snowing. Thank god.

Oh! Oh! Guess what? My mom bought me La Signora Dalloway! WOO! I want to read the Italian version and the English version side by side this summer, which I'm sure will be difficult since I barely understood the English version, but I'm looking forward to it. :)

You want to know something that's made of awesome? I will, hopefully, be taking a Popular Culture class in the fall, and it's all about Cult TV. In the overview there's this little bit of awesome: "Students in "Cult TV" will participate by writing scripts, fanfiction or filming/acting mini 'episodes'" and "consider the interactive potential of online (and other) fandoms to counteract the passive nature of the medium, and even influence"

Dude. I will be watching BtVS, Monty Python, Veronica Mars (god willing we'll just watch season 1), Star Trek (TOS hopefully), The Sopranos, Big Love, and Twin Peaks and writing fanfic and talking about fandom, for college credit. I know college can make you hate your hobbies, but seriously, I don't know how I could pass up a class like that. :D

Today for my Art class I needed an ink pad, and I do not have an ink pad, so I was planning on just going to Office Max before school. It's a little out of my way, but whatever. I got up an hour early so I could get down there and back up to the school in time. I just checked my email and my art class was cancelled today! WOOT! I should be a little pissed about getting up an hour early for no reason, but so what! All I have to do today is go to Italian and then I can work on my paper when I get home at 1:00 instead of at 5:00!

Also, I can add more details to my art assignment that was due today. I drew a still-life of my Care Bear Cousin monkey holding a knife menacingly over one of my teddy bears. Masks had to be incorporated so I tied a ribbon with some eye holes around the monkey and I put my sleeping mask on the bear so it would look like it was sleeping and vulnerable. I think it looks crazy awesome... and disturbing.

I feel like today is going to be a good day. :)

I feel super lazy today, and not in the satisfying way like yesterday's laziness. I did accomplish one important thing though, I filled out my FAFSA. My Expected Family Contribution went down $700 from last year! Woo! Here's hoping I'll get more money this year!

I figured I'd post the bands that no one guessed from yesterday's music meme. :)

Oh, Staci! My paper that was due next friday isn't actually due until the friday after spring break! I'm totally free next Thursday and Friday. You want to go to the zoo on Friday? :D

I did my art assignment and read some articles today for the classes that I missed. I feel like utter shit, but hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow so I can do all the studying that I have to do without burning out quickly and taking a nap.

I don't really like my art assignment, but I'm hoping if I disclaim it by saying, "I was in a feverish delusional state when I drew this," my class will show some pity when critiquing it.

I made a LoM macro that I forgot to post a while ago. The text is from the Jurassic Park Rifftrax. :)

Okay, so I've been typing up American Institutions notes for my midterm for the last few hours and I think I still have about 14 more pages to go. And an assload of articles to read/review. And I have to review the two books we read. And some images. Sooo I'm going to skip art tomorrow. If I don't skip it tomorrow I'll have to wait an hour for class to begin, have the two hour class and then wait forty more minutes for the bus. I figure getting home by 1:00 instead of 5:00 would help me a lot on the studying front.

As I was looking over my notes and typing them up I realized that I remember a lot of the lectures, so I'm pretty good there! I'm a little bit worried about the books and articles we read. Especially the mind numbingly boring articles. Eh well, here's hoping it'll all work out for the best.

I am really worried about that fact that I am not nervous over this midterm. I feel like I should be terrified, but today my inner monologue has been, "La la la la! La la la! La la la! It's a beautiful day! I want to go to the zoo!" Not the usual, "OH GOD OH GOD I HAVE A TEST TO TAKE! OH GOD, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!" So, that's good. As long as the terror doesn't hit me tomorrow.

I woke up at noon today, even though my alarm went off at 10:00. I was totally planning on getting up at 10:00 too, but when my alarm went off I remember saying, "Fuck that" and then turning it off. Eh well. I didn't really miss anything in those two hours.

My university is planning on changing up the campus and they keep on talking about meetings regarding the Campus Master Plan and I like to think that the Campus Master Plan is as sinister as it sounds.

That reminds me, Haley and I were watching 'Dalek' a few weeks ago and when the bad guy (Van Stanton? Statten? whatever) said the closest town to the base was Salt Lake we were wondering where the base actually was. Because if it was out in the salt flats it's more likely that the closest town would be Toole or West Valley or one of the other many little cities surrounding Salt Lake. So we decided that it would have been cooler if the base was just directly under the University, like, under Fort Douglas. Where better to put a secret base than under a former military fort that's right up against the mountains?

Of course this theory is totally boned if he actually said they were out in the salt flats earlier in the episode, which I could totally check up on, but what's the fun in checking your facts?

I wasn't planning on making macros this weekend, but I have this sudden urge to make an assload of DW macros. Well, I guess I'll be scouring Wikiquote and Time and Space tonight. :)

My day has just flown by, I can't believe it's actually 8:00. Where the hell did my day go?! This is what I get for saying "Fuck that" to my alarm clock. I should plan out my day tomorrow so I'll be more productive. I think I'll get up before noon and hopefully we'll go grocery shopping in the morning. After we go grocery shopping I'll study while I have a giant marathon of BoB, DW and LoM. Yes, tomorrow shall be splendid. :D
Today has been incredibly boring. I did my laundry, cleaned my room and organized my music (well, a little bit). I suppose I needed a day to get things like that done without any fandom or school distractions. The next few weeks will be so busy, I am dreading it. I have an Italian presentation (which I don't have a topic for yet) and midterm, an American Institutions midterm, a Gender and Social Change midterm, and two complicated art assignments due, one of which is the midterm. Tomorrow I'm going to figure out my presentation topic, study for my Italian midterm and do my reading for American Institutions. Tonight though I'm going to make mixes and upload some music! Yay!

Last night I passed out at midnight, right now it's 1:00 and I am wide awake and chipper! I thought reading an article for American Institutions would help me fall asleep, but alas, it did not. Usually I can't make it through a whole article without falling asleep, but I read the whole thing in one go. Craaazy.

I did my taxes tonight, so I'm pretty pleased that I got that taken care of. :D I'm getting a refund too. Woo!

I totally thought I had more interesting things to post about, evidently I do not. 'Night all!

I was just reading this article about who won in Utah last night and a student at the U said this,

David Edwards, a junior in international studies, said he voted for Obama, but also likes Romney. He said Obama and Romney both seem highly intelligent and would be strong leaders.

"I'm happy with what Utah did -- Utah did good," he said.

University of Utah education, ladies and gentlemen! Utah did good.

Well, speaking of the U, I have to go to school now. So I can enhance mah learnins.
