Today I was incredibly lazy and I did not do anything productive, so I changed my layout so I could go to bed feeling like I accomplished something. I like the new header and layout so so much more than my last one, for a few reasons: sad!Doctor was getting me down, I didn't really like the old header, I like the new colors a lot more, and Eve Myles is hot.

I came into my room to feed my fish and go to bed, and when I opened Geoffrey's tank to feed him, I didn't look at him immediately and I noticed there were 3 pieces of food from last night that he hadn't eaten, so I looked at him and he was dead. He did a face plant into the rocks and he was sticking up. I'm not sure why he died, he didn't have fin rot, and he seemed okay, but I guess he was just getting old. I got him nearly two years ago. I thought his tank was clean enough, but when I dumped it out I saw that it was dirtier than I thought. His tank always seemed to get dirtier than Spike's. I should have cleaned his more often. I'm more sad over it than I expected to be. Spike's still fine though, and I'm planning on going to Wal-Mart soon to get another betta. I'm still going to really miss that pretty purple betta though.

And apparently George Carlin died. I still can't really believe it. The thought of him dying never even entered my mind. Even though he was 71, it still seemed like he could keep on going for years. I never really got into his stand up stuff, but I grew up watching him on Shining Time Station and the Bill and Ted movies, and since I watched that show and those movies so much, he was a big part of my childhood.

I got a new betta today. I wasn't really planning on getting one so soon, but Haley suggested we grocery shop at Wal-Mart so we could get another fish, so I figured, why not?

The betta fish at that Wal-Mart were incredibly depressing. Most of them were practically dead and barely had an inch of water in their containers. What little water they had was dyed blue and full of their own filth. There was one tiny betta that still had some life in him so we decided to get him. I know you're not supposed to buy bettas that are in those conditions because it is very likely that they'll die a few days after you get them, but we couldn't just leave this little guy who was so energetic in that shitty little container. And if he dies we'll just go to the Wal-Mart in Park City where I got my other fish because they actually take care of the fish in that store. He's looking pretty good though, he doesn't look like he has fin rot and he's really enjoying his new tank.

Since my other betta is called Spike, we were planning on calling this one Angel, but we decided to call him Wesley, because he's incredibly small and for all the shit he got, he's still fighting. :P

The Fifth Doctor: I told her she had full powers until I returned.

Tegan: You're not going back??

The Fifth Doctor: You know - sometimes, Tegan, you take my breath away!

Turlough: Uh, won't the Time Lords be very angry?

The Fifth Doctor: Furious!

Tegan: You mean you're deliberately choosing to go on the run from your own people, in a rackety old TARDIS?

The Fifth Doctor: (smiling) Why not? After all...that's how it all started!

I love that whole exchange like a fat kid loves cake. It makes me smile like an idiot everytime I see it just because I love those three so much and I love the last two lines, they just end that special so perfectly. :)

I'm watching Reptile Boy right now, and you know what I kind of blocked? That scene where Angel pulled Buffy to his chest for no reason, and then they whined over the fact that they can never be together! OH THE EPIC SOAP OPERA LOVE THAT COULD NEVER BE! ALAS! I was trying to give the pairing a chance since my Spike/Buffy fervor has been reduced over the years, but I don't see how I could take those two seriously. It's like a whiny and incredibly boring high school romance.

That's why I prefer Buffy/Spike/Angel because Spike wouldn't let those two get away with their whining, he'd just mock them and then get them into bed. Good times!
