I just got back from the Andrew Bird concert, and holy shit it was amazing. Let's start with the venue and my spot. I've seen Wolfmother and Interpol at that venue, and the Wolfmother show was kind of 'meh', and I'm sure I would have liked it more if I was into the band more and if I could have actually seen the stage, but alas. The Interpol show was astounding because I just love that band so much, but I wasn't that close to the stage. This concert though, was perfect. I got there an hour early so I got my spot right in front of the stage so I had no tall people standing in front of me. I was really tired today so standing for about 4 hours was not pleasant, but at least I had a rail to lean against.

Opening band: OMG they were awesome. They were a Swedish band called the Loney Dears, they were so adorable and so freaking good. I have a tendency to be disappointed with opening bands, but I totally enjoyed everything about them. The lead singer was so cute and so was the keyboardist. I think Jasie said it best in regards to the keyboardist, "I want to put him in my pocket!!" The drummer looked kind of like a sad Dave Grohl, and he was quite hot. Especially since he kept on shooting this sexy grin to the lead singer and the bass player. Yum.

Andrew freaking Bird: That man. Oh, that man. He is so beautiful and amazing and just, GAH! I just loved that he played Plasticities, Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left, and Armchairs. Oh, Armchairs. That was so magnificent and gorgeous and just perfect. At one point in the concert the people around me were clapping along, and they messed up Andrew and he stopped and said, "Sorry, but you guys are going to fast. Now I'm flustered." SO adorable. Later on the drummer was having troubles starting a song and Andrew said it was too slow, so a guy right next to me said, "Do you want us to speed it up for you?" lolz.

After the concert my mom met the lead singer of the Loney Dears and he signed a CD for her and she told him about how much we love him. XD

And now, I must study for a quiz I have in the morning. I would rather just collapse and die at the moment, but I'll be sort of responsible and study.

Damnit all, I don't have an Andrew Bird icon. I will have to fix this.

I thought about being all, "Wah wah wah, sullying The Beatles' music, wah wah wah." But you know what? After Across the Universe, American Idol, and that Jonas Brothers verison of "Hello Goodbye" that made me feel like my ears were being raped, I think I deserve to play some Beatles songs on a Rock Band-like game. YES!

Does Tokyo Police Club suck? Would I like them at all? Because I just chose to stay home and read John Locke, and be all responsible and shit, rather than go to their free concert, and I need to know it was a good choice. :\

ETA: Okay, I listened to them, they're not terrible, and they sound like their fun to dance to, but I suppose school is important and junk.

You know what's great about living right next to a giant salt lake? When it's really windy, we get the fresh scent of sulfur. Delicious. D: Apparently there's a flash flood warning for the valley, so I'm guessing this storm is going to be a bunch of fun. But I suppose I should just shut up since it's not like we have to deal with a scary ass hurricane.

I saw Crooked Fingers and Neko Case tonight and Neko Case was sooooo amazing. That woman's voice is just unreal. That's the last concert I'll be going to for the forseeable future, and it was a damn good one. It was at the same place I saw Andrew Bird, and I got on the TRAX and went down to the venue right after my last class around 2:00. I just hung out there and read until Mom came and we had a nice time together just hanging out. I'm really glad we didn't get into any fights. Crooked Fingers were good, I don't really like them that much, but the bass player was hot. And I did like a few of their songs, mostly just the upbeat ones.

I heard all of the Neko Case songs that I wanted to hear, so I am v. v. pleased about that. She played Hold On Hold On, That Teenage Feeling, Star Witness, John Saw That Number, Margaret vs. Pauline, Maybe Sparrow, and Dirty Knife, and they are my faaaavorite songs. She also played a few songs from her new album and they were very very good.

There was this weird guy who popped out of no where during the show, and he was crazy and didn't have a shirt on. He popped up behind me and Jasie, and Mom scared him off. XD She's good to have during concerts. The crazy guy was really the only bad thing about the concert, the rest was just fantastic.

I was right against the barrier for the show and I got some great pictures that I'll post when I make my Mega Summer Concert Picture (and some videos) Post Extravaganza!!!! sometime this weekend. :P

I'm done with school for the week! WOO!

Edit: Woah, I missed a great speech while I was at the concert. Thank god for CSPAN!

Last night I went to see Tilly and the Wall and Kilby Court and it was so much fun! Kilby Court is the smallest venue I've ever been in, it's basically a two car garage. Concerts there can be so great if the band is good, and Tilly and the Wall (and the opening bands) were just amazing. One of the opening acts was a local band that I actually liked! I've never liked a local band! Tilly and The Wall are poppy and so easy to dance to. The percussion was just a girl tap dancing, and she was awesome.

1. Which is your doctor and why?
Nine, he's my first one and I love him so much. He introduced me to the show and he was amazing. I love Ten and Five as well, but Nine was my favorite and he never annoyed me like Ten does sometimes.

2. What is your favorite "Spaced" character?
Daisy, mostly because I relate to her so much. And she's so hilarious and awesome.

3. What is it like living in Utah?
Well, it depends on where I am. In my hometown I'm surrounded by the Mormon culture and I hate it so so much. In Salt Lake I'm usually around more liberal people and it's a better environment for me. I don't like how conservative the state is, I have a lot of issues with the Mormon culture because they're all conservative and incredibly annoying. I hate the legislation against gay marriage, and how sex ed is abstinence only and that teachers are not allowed to even bring up homosexuality in a sex ed class. I hate the fact that the state legislature is full of racist and homophobic asswipes, and I hate that the gender wage gap is the second worst in the country. In things not related to politics: I hate the winters because I'm not a snow person, but the rest of the year it's gorgeous. It is a pretty boring state, everything tends to close at 9:00 so there isn't much to do at night unless you're 21, and even if you're 21 you can't even buy liquor after 1:00. I have a pretty large list of complaints, but actually I don't mind living here that much. My hometown is pretty nice, Salt Lake can be a fun city, and I live really close to Park City, which is one of my favorite places. I'd rather live in California, but I'm okay with where I am now.

4. If you could make any show real life and live in it, which would you chose?
I thought about Doctor Who, but then I remembered how the Doctor ruins lives, and I figured I'd probably die in that universe. I think I would want to live in a Futurama world. I think that world would be fun and amazing.

5. What newer album would you recommend for me to listen to?
Hmm, I haven't been downloading newer albums, I'm really behind on what's new. I think I'd recommend Volume 1 by She & Him. I absolutely love that album and it's relatively new.
