So there's this particle collider thingy, and some people are afraid that it could cause a black hole that could destroy the earth/universe. (NY Times link via liberalrage)

I am just incredibly amused by the whole idea that the earth could end that way. It seems so anticlimatic. Like, everything in the universe just ending with some scientist in Geneva saying, "Woops!"

I also really like the idea of the world ending that way. It seems like it would be a quick and painless apocalypse. And I completely support the idea of a quick and painless apocalypse opposed to a nuclear war, or an asteroid, or some other terrible thing that wouldn't completely end the world, but just leave a few stragglers behind on a fucked up post-apocalyptic world.

Aaaaanyway, this bit is just awesome:

DUDE! A dragon apocalypse would be fucking awesome! Waaay better than a zombie apocalypse (which is one of my greatest irrational fears), because a dragon apocalypse would just look so much cooler. Before you die you get to see a FUCKING DRAGON SWOOP IN FOR THE KILL! My dying thoughts would be, "HOLY SHIT I'M GOING TO DIE! OMG LOOK AT THE DRAGON! AWESOME!"

EDIT: I was just thinking, this whole scenario, black holes and dragons, could be is probably a fucking awesome episode of Doctor Who.

Even better would be if the dragon apocalypse took over the zombie apocalypse. Because then you'd already be terrified/resigned to dying by zombies, and knowing you were going to be killed by and become one of the walking dead, and then...

OMG that is the best apocalyptic scenario that I have ever heard! I think that one is now high on the list of, "Apocalyptic scenarios that I would be okay with."

I also think that particular scenario has the makings of a crazy awesome zombie/dragon movie.

It so does! It would be even better if the previews and trailers and stuff refrained from showing the dragons at all, so everyone would be thinking it was a zombie movie, and then both the characters and the audience would be all AHAHAHAA WHAT.

I whole-heartedly agree. I hate the concept of a post-apocalypse. The last remaining humans would probably all turn on each other or lose hope in the worst way. And we're sorta stuck on Earth, so whatever hole we dig ourselves into, we'd better well be able to claw out of. Or...end painlessly enough.

And WHAT. Dragons. AWESOME. I choose dragons.

Wouldn't death by dragon just be awesome? If there is an afterlife, you would have the coolest death story to tell. "I got killed by a fucking DRAGON that appeared out of NOWHERE because some particles happened to collide in just the right way! Boo-yah!"

See I am personally hoping for the Zombie Apocolypse (Than all those pesky First Person Shooters I play would come in Handy.) The Second runner up is just a PLAGUE that wipes out like 40% of the population. Than you just pack everything into the back of a '67 Chevy Impala and roam the world.

That sounds awesome, and that's what I would do if I were to survive a zombie invasion/plague. But I don't like the zombie or plague scenarios because I don't like taking chances. There's a 40% chance I could die? Fuck that! I want a quick apocalypse that would just sneak up on everybody.

I kinda like this idea too. It would be fast and easy, no time for governments to freak out or go all fascist on us like in all post apocalyptic movies.
