I have 150 more pages to read for a class tomorrow, but I felt like posting this.

Today when I got to my Italian class this guy asked me if I felt prepared for the midterm, I said, "Yeah I think so but I'm still worried." (btw, we didn't even take the midterm today because we did badly on our quizzes so we just reviewed today) Then, knowing that I am a Star Trek fan, he said, "What would Captain Kirk do?" and I said, "He'd probably cheat." Then he said, "Yeah, maybe in the new movie." And rolled his eyes. Then I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and said, "Well, he cheated before."
"No he didn't."
"Yes, he did, have you seen Wrath of Khan?"
"Yeah."
"Do you remember the Kobiashi Maru?"
"I don't know what that is."
"Do you remember the beginning in the flight simulator thing when everybody died?"
"Yeah."
"That was the Kobiashi Maru test, and the only one to ever survive the test in the simulator was Captain Kirk, because he cheated. It's brought up a few times in the movie."
"No he didn't!"

So I felt slightly embarrassed for nerding out like that, and kind of angry because this guy who probably knows little to nothing about Star Trek is all cynical and bitchy about the new movie just so he can build some Star Trek geek cred. Which, honestly, isn't that geekier and sadder than actually being a Star Trek geek?

Okay, I have to stop wasting time. Back to the reading!
