gigglestheblood: (The Mighty Boosh Credits)
( May. 2nd, 2009 08:37 pm)
I worked on my paper all day, and now I'm taking a break until tomorrow. I wrote about nine pages, and I'm pretty sure I like what I've written so far. I am so close to being done with this semester. So so so so close.

We've been watching a looot of horror movies since last night. Jasie came over and we watched The Candyman and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and today we watched The Exorcist and a cute zombie movie called Dance of the Dead. Now we're wataching Hellraiser, which is a pretty fucked up movie. Next we're going to watch John Carpenter's The Thing and then Shark Attack 3 for the lulz. Oh, we also watched the Twilight rifftrax again because Jasie hadn't seen it yet. I love that Rifftrax. Also, I think I would watch an entire movie about Jasper and Alice. I like those two, mostly because Jasper's so strung out. He makes me laugh everytime I see him.

I can't believe I'm not going to be here next weekend. I can't believe I'm going to be in London next weekend. That is just too insane.
Last night I had a dream that I was living in the movie, SLC Punk (I haven't seen that movie in years), and Salt Lake had turned into a literal hell on earth. It wasn't all fire and pitchforks, but it just felt wrong and empty. It reminded me of the acid scene from the movie, but not because of how it looked, just how it felt. It was night, but for some reason I knew that it wasn't just night, it was always dark and there was no more sun. There were fireworks for some reason. Also, it took place in a cemetery that had a jungle gym in it. My nightmares when I was little were usually set on jungle gyms. I haven't had a jungle gym dream in years, so that was pretty weird. It was a creepy dream, but it was kind of cool too, mostly because I was hanging out with the characters from SLC Punk, and they were really enjoying themselves.

And now you know, and don't you feel special for getting a pretty boring glimpse into my fucked up subconscious?

Go and vote for Point Break HERE. It's the last one in the post. I've seen both of the movies many times and there is no way Friday is more nineties than Point Break.

I saw Watchmen again tonight with a few of my friends from the LGBT center and I was so worried that they wouldn't like it, but they all loved it! And we discussed it afterwards! And we discussed the ethics of it! And the characters! And did I mention they all loved it? I was so happy.

The movie went by faster the second time, I'm excited to see it again. :P

Trailers: Terminator 4. Dude. Dude. There will be Hot Cyborg Dude/John Connor slash. And it will be awesome. I loved that during the trailer for Nick Cage's new movie, a lot of people (including myself) booed. Also, I'm still super excited for Ewan Plays A Hot Priest movie.

The Watchmen: god damn, that was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were differences and omissions, but that shit happens, and I think it was fantastic anyway. Dr. Manhattan is still my favorite character. So literally awesome. I really liked The Nite Owl too, and the movie made me like Rorschach, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

In closing: I must see that movie in IMAX. Also, I'm going to see it with Davies tomorrow! I'm so excited that I get to see it with him! I love geeking out with him. Today he texted me and asked me if he should go naked and paint himself blue. XD He decided against it because it's too cold right now, maybe if it was May or something.

Oh, and Jasie, I think you'll like the movie more than you liked the comic.

I should really go to bed. Since it's 4:00 and all. But, I don't know if I want to.

In other news: I'm watching Across The Universe, and I don't feel as angry as I thought I would be, but that's not necessarily a good thing. There's really nothing impressive about it. It seems unnecessary, like there's absolutely no point in its existence, if that makes any sense.

[ profile] pepperlandgirl4 said it best: it's like a songfic.

I committed to the diet that [ profile] pepperlandgirl4 is doing. I've been eating salads for lunch and I eat the same dinner as she does, but last week I also ate cereal in the morning and I gave into temptation whenever I wanted chocolate and ice cream. I decided to give that stuff up so I could just lose some freaking weight already. I think I've gained about 35 pounds since I graduated high school, and I'm just tired of it. I feel like I get bigger every day. I ultimately decided to stick to it when Haley said she doesn't have such a big appetite anymore. I feel like I'm constantly hungry and it's annoying. Also, when I'm hungry at school I end up giving in and buying a $5 sandwich or wrap, so this can at least help me save a little bit of money. My main goal: lose a good amount of weight before going to London. Also, lose enough weight to fit into my favorite denim skirt, which is a size 16. I know that's not a big goal since it's just a size or two down, but I love that skirt so much and I miss wearing it.

In other news: I'm developing a crush on Gene Kelly. I just want to watch Gene Kelly movies all day.

Now, I must do some Italian homework!

I have to see GI Joe now because Christopher Eccleston is in it, and I have to see Angels and Demons because Ewan is a hot priest. I will sit through a movie based on a Dan Brown book if I can see Ewan be a hot (and evil? is he evil and hot?) priest. Goddamn actors that I love being in stupid movies.
Last night we watched 1408 and the new version of Thirteen Ghosts. 1408 freaked me out. It wasn't the greatest movie, but it was suitably creepy and then it transitioned from 'suitably creepy' to 'mindfuckapalooza'. I love John Cusack, and I think he did a great job in it. It's kind of stuck with me, which isn't that surprising because movies about watching someone go mad usually stick with me.

Thirteen Ghosts: I like that they actually tried to create a coherent plot for the movie, unlike the original. It was nice that they gave the uncle a motive for capturing ghosts. In the original it seemed like he was just eccentric and bored, which is a fine motive I suppose. Anyway, the plot that they wrote for the new version was quite retarded. A devil machine, which is the house, is going to unleash hell on earth if it can get 12 ghosts and a human sacrifice made out of pure love. I loved all the technobabble (but I'm not sure if you could call it technobabble) about the spirit realm and the ghosts' energy and stupid crap like that. It cracked me up. I love it when stuff like that is discussed so earnestly in movies.

I like how the characters didn't completely accept the idea that ghosts exist. The lack of skepticism in the original was really stupid, it was basically, "Oh, there are ghosts in the house? That's hi-LAR-ious! Oh, you mean there are actual ghosts? Okie dokie, that sounds fine to me. Look at that! A fiery pinwheel of death! Haha, that's some crazy shit. Night kids!"

Also, the ghosts in the new movie were suitably freaky and fucked up. The dude with his head in the cage was actually scary, so, well done there.

I hate that Matthew Lillard's character died. He was the only character that made that movie watchable. He had some actual funny lines and he was the only one I actually cared about.

Woah woah woah, I just noticed that the movie is actually titled, "Thir13en Ghosts". That's right, Thir-thirteen-en Ghosts. Nice.

I think considering it was a remake of a William Castle movie, it could have been much worse. It could have been House on Haunted Hill.

Thank god I've taken the time to write this up, instead of, ya know, doing homework.

I usually don't do year in reviews beyond the meme that I did in the last post, but I figured I'd do a quicky.

I finished my first year at the UofU and I started my second.

I got a 4.0, finally.

I saw Wilco 3 times and met Jeff Tweedy.

I saw Andrew Bird, Tilly and the Wall, Neko Case, Retribution Gospel Choir, and The Fleet Foxes.

I went to California, twice, both times very fun and awesome. The first time I went, I went to PCA/ACA conference with Haley and Jasie, and it was geek/nerd heaven for me.

I went to Idaho for the first time. Not remarkable, I know, but it was still a new place.

I VOTED for the first time! Late August to November were crazy, and politics became my new crack.

I declared my major.

TV I watched and enjoyed muchly/squeed over: Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Classic Doctor Who, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, 30 Rock, Top Gear, QI, Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look, Californication, Weeds, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and The West Wing.

Movies I watched for the first time: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, Clerks 2, 12 Monkeys, Burn After Reading, Tropic Thunder, The Dark Knight, The Philadelphia Story (and many many other Cary Grant movies), American Psycho, The Dreamers, The Exorcist, Nosferatu, The 2nd X-Files movie, Planet Terror, Death Proof, The Queen, Waitress, True Stories, Diary of the Dead, and Willow. Probably more, but I can't remember them at the moment. Oh, and I've watched half of Apocalypse Now: Redux over the last few days. Watching that movie is like reading Heart of Darkness: I can only handle so much before I want to take a nap.

Books I read: Mostly just stuff for school, but in the summer I read Misery. Yeah I suck at reading when I'm not required to, but I read a lot of awesome things for my classes, that I am apparently far too lazy to list them.

Overall grade for 2008: A- It was pretty kickass for me I think. I know I've forgotten stuff in this post, since I tried to type it up in 20 minutes.

Well, I'm off to Salt Lake with my mom so I can get a ride to Staci's party in Ogden from Flora. I wish I had a car.

Happy New Year everybody!

So, I saw it. It was fucked up, but surprisingly, it was not as fucked up and scary as I thought it would be. Apparently my expectations for horror are more fucked up than the Exorcist. It was a pretty awesome movie though. I'm sure when I actually go to bed I will have a hell of a time getting to sleep.

Next week is Carrie! :D

I went to the Organ Loft tonight and saw Nosferatu. It was pretty cool. As you can guess from the name, there's a giant organ in the building that is played during silent movies. Nosferatu was kind of boring, but most of it held my attention so I wasn't too crazy bored. The movie was actually pretty funny, and the live organ was awesome. I went with Flora, one of Flora's friends, and Staci and her boyfriend. We had a lot of fun driving around Salt Lake afterwards, they're fun people. I am so glad I went out tonight. I felt like doing something today but I didn't think it was going to happen, but then Flora called and good times were had. :D

The Exorcist is playing at the Tower tomorrow!!!!! I haven't seen it yet, so what better way to see it than in a theater with a crazy awesome sound system! :D

I'm watching Life On Mars US, and it's not that bad. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I just wish I were watching John Simm.
I'm doing this for [ profile] agnespennyworth since Haley guessed all of them before she got a chance. All of you can still guess if you want of course.

1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions

The first day was pretty good. I got to see all the girls I hung out with in Italian last year and I had a good time in my Italian class. I like my professor and I'm not quite as nervous about the class anymore. I think I'll be okay. I think my Olympics class is going to be really interesting and awesome. I'm hoping that this year is going to be a lot better than last year, and I am really excited. :)

Meme snagged from [ profile] dayoneexposure I've done this meme before, but I really like memes like this so I figured I'd do it again. I'll try to use different movies too. :P

I went and saw Tropic Thunder tonight, and it was so so hilarious.

Thoughts )
I saw The X-Files I Want to Believe last night, and I enjoyed it muchly. It was basically an episode of The X-Files, and that's all I really wanted out of it. So, woo new episode of the X-Files!

But surprisingly enough, the post isn't even mostly about the X-Files. It's about the shitty trailers before the movie. Did we get a Watchmen trailer? Or a Terminator 4 trailer? No, we got the shitty movies that are going to be playing in the fall because they're not good enough to be summer blockbusters.

  • That one movie with Samuel L. Jackson and Patrick Wilson This looks like the stupidest plot in cinema history. Samuel L. Jackson is an annoying neighbor who doesn't like the new inter-racial couple who lives next door, so what does he do? Be an incredible dick. And apparently, this is supposed to be terrifying. OH NOES! He cut down their trees! He bitched at them about stuff! And OMGWTFBBQ HE'S A COP! Who will they complain to when the person who is harrassing them, is a COP?! You know what, I have a simple solution for Patrick Wilson's character: swallow your fucking pride and move the fuck away, you dumbass. Is this movie for people who haven't experienced neighborhood politics and incredibly annoying neighbors, but would love to via a movie?
  • That movie about a prison race You know, the beginning of this trailer didn't make me think there was anything about this movie that was especially stupid. It was just a silly action movie about inmates racing super cars to win their freedom. Of course, the idea is offensive since it's about men being reduced to gladiators, but I'm sure there's a badly executed moral of the story tacked onto the movie about it. Anywho, like I said, wasn't too stupid, and then the women's prison inmates showed up. *sigh* They were models in regular clothes with perfect hair and makeup. Now, I may not be an expert when it comes to women's prisons, but I seriously doubt that they're full of car smart models. The end of the trailer turned into a perfectly fine music video for Welcome To The Jungle though, so that was mildly entertaining.
  • That new tv show with Benjamin Bratt this isn't technically a trailer, but they shoved it down our throats while we were waiting for the actual trailers to begin. I have one major complaint with the premise of this show. This show is about a group of people who kidnap drug users for their own good. Let me repeat that: it is about a group of people who kidnap other people for their own good. Kidnap, as in, commit a federal crime. There was absolutely no indication in the endless commercials that this is seen as a bad thing. Personally, if I was a drug addict and I was kidnapped, put under sedation, and then put through detox, I would press charges as soon as they let me go.

So yeah, now you know my opinions about stupid trailers.
All other movies only wish that they could be The Dark Knight.

Holy fucking shit.

(You see that look on Simon Pegg's face in my icon? That was my facial expression through most of the movie, but in a good way.)

I am soooooo exhausted right now. I seriously can not remember the last time I was this sore.

Today I rode the Trax and the bus for two hours to get to Provo to see Jasie. Then we went up to BYU campus to get permission to shoot her zombie movie in the library, after we got that we went back to her house and she put my zombie makeup on. Then we went back up to campus and shot some scenes for it. I played a corpse who was getting eaten by this zombie. Jasie made a cool latex thing for my neck so it looked like my flesh was being torn open. It looked like we were making out before the camera zoomed in and my head rolled back. I was covered in fake blood, and I have a lot of pictures of me in my makeup. The blood soaked through my shirt and my pants so my underwear and my bra were ruined. It was SO much fun.

I'll post pictures later, when I'm not so incredibly tired.
